Iron Bridge Restoration Project Webcams |
Using the wonders of modern technology and with the help of Andy Andrzejczuk at ALL NETWORKS we can now bring you 'live' updated stills or even streaming video of the Iron Bridge Restoration as it happens. Thanks are also due to Peter Pearson, owner of Iron Bridge Cottage, for allowing us to use his home and phone line to bring this service to you.
There are two options for accessing the webcam feeds:
Streaming Video:
This is the best way to view the bridge with a constantly refreshing video
stream, however, there can be browser and software issues depending on your
setup. You will need Java installed and enabled in your browser and you will
also need to accept a Java Applet the first time you use it.

(this link will open in a new window).
If it doesn't work for you, you can use our guide to streaming video issues further down the page, or the updating stills option below.
Updating Stills:
If Streaming Video doesn't work with your set up and you don't want to
install Java or fiddle about trying to fix it using our guide below, then the
updating stills option is almost as good and should work with any browser setup.
The stills refresh every few seconds.

Webcam
Guide:
If you have Java enabled and your browser setup is compatible you should see a
new window that looks like a larger version of this image. The first time you
use it you will have to accept the Cambzola Java Applet. If you are going to
visit regularly click the option to "Always trust content from this
publisher".*
There is a link at the top to the Stills view, which is identical in appearance except that it has a link to the stream view. Use the link to the Stills view if you do not want to install the Java Applet or it does not work for you.
You can scale the image size in both views using the drop down menu at the top but because it is a low resolution image being transmitted it looks best "Actual" size.
There is also a link to close the window.
Streaming Video Issues:
Java is a software 'plug in' that allows small software packages (applets) to
run within your browser. If you don't have Java installed go to http://www.java.com
and download the latest version compatible with your setup.*
We have experienced Java issues with Internet Explorer 7 on both Windows XP and Vista platforms. There appear to be widespread problems with Java and IE7 and it can be difficult to get Java to install or work properly. We have overcome these by downloading an alternative browser called Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com*. Firefox 2 is a great browser and has Java compatibility built in. We found that by installing Firefox and then downloading the latest version of Java when prompted it actually fixed IE7 too!
* Please note that we cannot be responsible for any software downloaded or configuration changes made to your system by you and these are done at your own risk.
If you are having issues with the webcams let us know in the forum.
